How to Skip Podcast Ads Automatically on Android

Set up automatic podcast ad skipping on Android, check analysis status, inspect detected segments, and change the rules for one show.

Why the ordinary skip button is not automatic

Most podcast players give you a configurable fast-forward button. That helps after you notice an ad, find your phone, unlock it, and tap the button several times. It does not identify the ad or know where the ad ends.

Automatic skipping needs a map of the episode. STFUAI downloads the episode normally, sends the audio for transcription and analysis, and returns time ranges for advertisements, sponsor reads, self-promotion, intros, outros, and closing credits.

How to use automatic ad skipping

  1. Open Settings from the bottom navigation.
  2. Scroll to Skippable Segments. Turn on Automatic Episode Analysis, then choose whether to skip Advertisements, Self-Promotion, Intros/Outros, and Closing Credits.
  3. Use Auto-Analysis Queue Depth to choose how many episodes at the top of the queue are prepared automatically.
  4. Open Search, enter a show name, open the result, and tap Subscribe. You can also import subscriptions with OPML.
  5. Add an episode to the queue. The app downloads it and the queue shows its analysis state. Automatic skipping is ready when the row reports detected skippable segments instead of Analyzing… or the Analyze button.
  6. Start playback. Tap the mini player to open the full player, then expand Skippable Segments to see the detected sections.

The first analysis of an episode can take several minutes. The app still plays the episode while analysis runs, but it cannot skip detected segments until the result comes back.

Check or correct a detection

The Skippable Segments section shows each segment’s type, time range, match score, and description. Tap a segment card to play that section. Tap Re-analyze when the result is wrong or incomplete; re-analysis uses another weekly analysis credit.

To change the rules for one show, open Library, select the podcast, and tap the gear beside Subscribed. Turn on Override skip settings, then change that show’s analysis and skip switches. The rest of your subscriptions keep using the global settings.

Download and analyze episodes before going offline. Episodes that have already finished analysis keep their skip ranges during offline playback.

What happens when the free allowance runs out

The app remains a normal podcast player when the current analysis allowance is exhausted. Previously analyzed episodes keep their detected segments, while new episodes wait for the allowance to reset or for a paid tier with a larger allowance.
