How to Move Podcast Subscriptions with OPML

OPML moves the list of podcast feeds you follow. It usually does not carry listening history, queue state, downloads, favorites, or app settings.

What an OPML file contains

An Outline Processor Markup Language file, usually called OPML, is commonly used to transfer podcast feed subscriptions between apps. It is a list of feeds, not a complete backup of your listening data.

Playback history, downloaded files, episode favorites, queue order, and app-specific settings normally stay behind. Keep the old app installed until you have confirmed the subscriptions you care about arrived.

Export from the old podcast app

In Pocket Casts, open Profile > Settings > Import & Export OPML, then choose Send email or Save file. In AntennaPod, open Settings > Import/Export > OPML export and save the file outside AntennaPod’s app directory.

If the export is delivered through Android’s share sheet, save a copy rather than assuming the temporary attachment will remain available after uninstalling the old app.

Import into STFUAI Podcasts

  1. Open Settings from the bottom navigation.
  2. Under Account, tap Import OPML.
  3. Use Android’s file picker to select the .opml file.
  4. Review the Import OPML preview. It shows the filename, the number of podcasts found, and a checkbox for each feed.
  5. Clear any feeds you do not want, then tap Import (N), where N is the number selected.
  6. Review the import result, return to Library, and spot-check several shows.

Do not remove the old player or delete the export until you have confirmed the subscriptions you care about arrived.
