STFUAI vs. AntennaPod for Android

AntennaPod is a flexible open-source Android podcast manager. STFUAI adds cloud analysis and automatic content-based segment skipping.

Different priorities

AntennaPod is an open-source Android podcast manager with strong local control and no advertising inserted by the official app. STFUAI is also an Android podcast player, but its distinctive feature is cloud analysis that prepares automatic skipping ranges.

Choose AntennaPod when open-source software and a conventional local player are the priority. Consider STFUAI when automatic detection of embedded advertisements and other unwanted segments is worth the analysis step and usage allowance.

Handling podcast advertisements

AntennaPod’s documentation explains that the podcast publisher or hosting company can include or dynamically insert advertisements in the episode audio. It recommends manual fast-forwarding, downloads, or an ad-free feed.

STFUAI analyzes the delivered episode and can skip suspected advertisement ranges during playback. It also exposes the ranges because automated classification is useful, not infallible.

Moving from AntennaPod

  1. In AntennaPod, open Settings > Import/Export > OPML export.
  2. Save the file outside AntennaPod’s app directory so it remains available if you uninstall the app.
  3. In STFUAI Podcasts, open Settings > Account > Import OPML.
  4. Select the file, review the feed checkboxes, and tap Import (N).

The OPML file transfers subscription feeds. AntennaPod’s listening state, queue, favorites, downloads, and settings are not part of that file.
