Your questions
(I assume)
WTF does "STFUAI" stand for?
"STFUAI Podcasts" is short for precisely what we do: Skip The F*cking Unwanted Ads In Podcasts.
Does this hurt creators?
Matter of fact, this is something I put a lot of thought into. I (obviously) love podcasts, and there are a lot of creators I respect and admire greatly. I wasn't going to release an app like STFUAI Podcasts if it meant messing with their metrics or taking money out of the hands of creators. So I noodled on it, and I noodled hard.
The result of all that noodling, is STFUAI Podcasts.
Here is an excerpt from the app's Store listing:
🎙️ PODCASTER-FRIENDLY
We know that you listen to podcasts because you enjoy them, and you probably don't
want to mess with the revenue of the podcasts you love. This is why STFUAI Podcasts
has specifically been designed to avoid disrupting the revenue (or metrics) of the
podcasts you're listening to.
Here's how it works: Advertisements are typically dynamically inserted into the podcast audio file as you download it. Everything from your geographical location to the type of device you're listening from impacts the ads you hear, which also impacts the metrics and revenue of the podcast.
The STFUAI Podcasts app downloads the audio file to your device just like any normal podcast app would, meaning the exact same dynamic ads you'd normally have to sit through, are still there in the podcast episode audio file.
The ad-skipping functionality in STFUAI Podcasts happens entirely locally on your device.
To the podcasters, it's exactly the same as if you were just manually skipping over the ads yourself. Their metrics are not impacted, their revenue is not disrupted, and you don't have to listen to advertisers screaming at you about their products.
You can even still choose to support the podcasts you love, because the contents of the ads are analyzed and distilled down to their core message, along with any special referral links or affiliate codes mentioned in the ad that was skipped. You can view these summaries with the sponsor names and any relevant links or codes anytime in the player UI just by opening up the app!
What's your pricing model?
So, I'd really like to be able to make sure that we always have some sort of "free" version of the app that still skips ads - which, right now, we do! As for how many podcast episodes it'll skip ads for per day/week/month, for free? That, I can't guarantee.
No matter what, though, if you hit your limit of ad-skip-analyzed podcasts, the app still works - it just becomes a normal podcast player app that doesn't skip ads until your usage limit resets (right now that happens daily at midnight Pacific time), or you choose to sign up for one of the subscription tiers.
Then how the hell do I support ye?!
Spread the word - Tell your podcast-loving friends.
Oh, and join the Discord! It gives you a direct line to me, the developer, which makes it much easier to submit feedback and help us improve!
Finally - consider subscribing to STFUAI! Just open the app, go to Settings > Subscription, and select one of the paid tiers. Preferably one of the more-expensive ones. Even if you barely listen to podcasts and it's definitely not worth it to pay for a higher tier. Plz give me all of ur money plz, thx.
At the time of writing (2/28/26), the total number of paying subscribers to STFUAI Podcasts is... none. Everyone's on the free tier. Which is fine - I have always expected to lose money on this app. I wrote it for me, and y'all are welcome along for the ride. But please do feel free to give me all of your money anyway. ❤️
If you want to toss me a few bucks as a one-off 'thanks', you can use the "$upport STFUAI" menu above. 😊
Wait, so... how do you make money?
I don't.
But, doesn't this cost you a bunch of money to run?
...Yes. Running STFUAI with current user and usage numbers, costs me somewhere between about $50 to $80 per day, which is about $2,000/mo or ~$25,000/yr.
You're kinda dumb.
That is not a question. ಠ_ಠ
Is this shit, like... legal, man?
Yes. I mean, I'm no fancy big-city law-chicken, but you are downloading podcast episodes (which are freely distributed to you, 'cuz that's how podcasts work) and you are choosing which parts to listen to. That's your inalienable right as a listener, as an individual - as an American*, god dammit!
We don't modify, redistribute, or interfere with podcast distribution in any way. The original files remain untouched - we just help you skip past the parts you don't want to hear.
While still not being a lawyer (regardless of what I tell my parents at Thanksgiving), based on my research, I believe that to do otherwise may be illegal - but STFUAI Podcasts does nothing more than report on where it believes the ads are, and allows you to automatically skip over them - which, again, is your right as an American*.
(*Note: I assume that freedom applies to non-Americans as well, despite their distressing lack of firearms with which to obtain said freedom; but again, I'm no lawyer.)
What makes you different?
Well, my mum says I'm really smart and also good-looking, but - OH, you meant the APP! Oh geez, that's embarrassing.
Well, the app - you see, what makes the app different is that... it skips ads. Otherwise, it's... pretty much just a podcast player app, man. They're pretty simple as apps go. They play podcasts. Ours just... skips the ads in those podcasts.
How can I contact you?
Discord: The best way to get in touch with us is through the community Discord, which you can join here.
Email: Plz don't.
But if you must, then email us at: IAmVeryAnnoying@stfuai.com.
How accurate is the ad-detection?
Very accurate for most podcasts. Our AI has been trained on thousands of hours of podcast content and continues to improve.
Each detected segment includes a confidence score (0-100%):
- 90-100% - Highly confident, almost certainly an ad
- 70-89% - Likely an ad, occasionally false positive
- Below 70% - Less certain, may require review
Detection works best on English-language podcasts with clear speech. Heavy audio effects, music-heavy segments, or non-English content may have lower accuracy.
Does processing happen on my device or in the cloud?
In the cloud. Here's the flow:
- Episode downloads to your device.
- Audio is securely uploaded to our servers.
- Our AI transcribes and analyzes the content using advanced semantic role-based diarization analysis and some other fancy-sounding shit.
- Detected segments are sent back to your device to be skipped by the app.
- Audio is deleted from our servers after processing.
Your device doesn't need to be powerful - the heavy lifting happens on our end.
What platforms does STFUAI Podcasts support?

What data does STFUAI Podcasts collect?
Minimal data for core functionality, including:
- Email (for account sync)
- Podcast subscriptions (to sync across devices)
- Playback state (to resume across devices)
We do NOT:
- Track your listening habits for advertising
- Sell or share your data with third parties
- Store audio files after processing
Why do I have to log in to use the app?
Mainly to prevent abuse, but also because we sync your subscriptions, settings, etc. to the cloud so that you can listen on multiple devices or switch devices without disruption.
See our privacy policy for more info, but the gist is this: We do not use your email address, listening habits, or nudes for marketing, spam, or blackmail. Promise.
